Haleigh had the opportunity this past December to attend the Midwest Clinic, a premiere musician review, with the Green Valley High School Orchestra. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity as Midwest is applied to by some 32,000 groups, of which only about 16 - 20 are selected. At the venue, each group has the opportunity to perform for over 1-hour to an audience of music professionals, teachers, professors, and such that really know music and what they are listening too. It is quite an honor for Haleigh and the school, on top of performing the past few years in Rome, Italy for 2007-08 New Years, at UC-Davis at a university level competition that GVHS won, and at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The cello has taken Haleigh many places and through many experiences that I would have loved to have had as a teen (I was stuck going to Silver City, New Mexico for "Band Camp").
All I can say is that my wish has come true... my kids have it better than I did.
